Our firm undertook the renovation of the first two floors of Walter Netsch’s 1960’s University Hall building on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus. Working closely with a committee of fifteen university representatives, the team proposed a dynamic design that enclosed an existing exterior space at the base of the 27-story concrete tower in glass, creating multiple areas for small group gatherings. The space looks onto a new plaza designed by Acconci Studios.
