Travanse Senior Living at Grayslake is a market-rate, 104 unit assisted living and memory care facility that opened in 2017. The building was designed to include a wide variety of formal and informal gathering spaces for residents and to incorporate as much natural light as possible. In addition to resident dwelling units, the building also includes a variety of dining venues, therapy gym, winter garden, library, theater, computer center, salon and activity room. A variety of informal lounge spaces have also been incorporated throughout the building. The memory care floor has been designed according to a household model to better serve the needs of these residents, which includes access to a large and unique rooftop garden and greenhouse.
The exterior of the building features a variety of materials, including brick, cast stone, and fiber cement siding / panels. This rich variety of materials works with the building massing to minimize the scale of the building and create a more residential identity. The corner of the building features a wrap around porch with landscaped gardens. This porch is adjacent to the dining area in order to facilitate outdoor dining and other resident programming. At the rear of the building, in between the two legs of the “L”, houses a landscaped courtyard and resident recreation area with outdoor patio, covered trellis area and walking paths.
