Montclare Senior Residences SLF of Lawndale provides housing and supportive services for seniors in the Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago. The building consists of 120 units including 101 single occupancy and 19 double occupancy units. The goal was to create a contemporary, vibrant and healthy living environment for seniors. The location and layout of the building provides an outdoor area with south sunlight in a defined, defensible space. The landscaped area is over 30,000 s.f. and includes a paved patio with shaded and open seating areas, recreational space, a gazebo, walking paths and park benches. Forty parking spaces have been provided along with a covered drop off at the main entry. The exterior of the building consists of a combination of brick masonry and cast stone.The form of the building has the materials, scale and style of traditional Chicago residential and mixed-use buildings.
Common areas for residents include a living room, library, multipurpose/TV room, full dining room with three meals per day provided via a commercial kitchen, activity room, fitness room, resident laundry rooms, resident lounge, beauty salon, and retail store which provides sundry items to residents.The facility also includes wireless, high-speed internet access provided to each of the dwelling units and the common areas.
The development’s sustainable design features include Energy Star-rated high-reflectance roof membranes, high efficiency LED lighting, and use of low-VOC interior paints and materials, and emphasis on energy efficiency in insulation and mechanical systems, in an effort to create utility bills lower in comparison to other similar buildings that do not employ the same level of design features.
