The Family and Youth Center project consists of the adaptive re-use of an existing building owned by Marillac St. Vincent Family Services. In it’s previous life the building was a thrift store and food pantry. In recent years the thrift store closed leaving most of the existing 2-story building empty. With a DCEO grant, as well as private fundraising, Marillac St. Vincent was able to revamp the building to accommodate their growing Youth and Family programs including Project Hope, Hope Junior, and an expansion of the food pantry. In addition to the renovation of the existing building, the project also included building an addition that houses a full-size basketball court and stage. The basketball court will be available for Marillac youth programs as well as available to the larger community for league games and open court time.
