Heritage Woods of Minooka is a three-story Supportive Living Facility with 102 dwelling units, consisting of a mix of 69 one-bedroom and 33 studio unit. The development was funded in part by a HUD 232 loan guarantee.
The facility provides many amenities to it’s residents. Conveniently located within the building are a living room with fireplace adjacent to the main entry, full service dining room which serves three meals a day via the commercial kitchen, activity room, fitness room, beauty salon, library, TV and resident lounges, wellness center, resident laundry rooms on each floor, and a retail store. Over 20% of the dwelling units to be fully accessible with the remaining able to be adapted to accessible units if needed. High-speed wireless internet access is provided to each of the dwelling units as well as WiFi throughout the common areas. The building’s placement on the site creates a sunny, south-facing entry courtyard. Exterior amenities include sitting porches at the main entry, a rear patio off of the dining room, landscaped recreation areas, walking paths, and a gazebo.
The facility is designed to minimize energy use while maximizing residents’ opportunities for recreation and activities in healthy indoor and outdoor environments. Features include Energy Star rated appliances, high efficiency heating and cooling systems, Energy Star windows, high efficiency interior and exterior LED lighting. Sustainable design features also include prefabricated floor and wall framing members to reduce material waste, products with a high recycled or re-constituted content, and space for trash recycling within the building. Low-VOC interior paints, adhesives and wall-coverings along with non-solvent based and formaldehyde-free materials help to provide enhanced indoor air quality for persons with allergies, asthma and chemical sensitivities.
