Kat joined the firm during the summer of 2016 after receiving her masters of architecture degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. While completing her master’s, Kat worked as a teaching assistant and research assistant for the school of architecture. Her B.S. in Architectural Studies was received from the same institution in 2014. During her junior year, Kat studied abroad in Versailles, France at l’Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Architecture de Versailles.
While studying at the U of I, Kat was most interested in fabrication techniques, material application and collaborative urban design. During the summer of 2015, Kat was part of a five-person team that participated in the Volterra International Design Workshop hosted by Detroit Mercy in Volterra, Italy. The workshop focused on the integration of society and technology, and creating sustainable urban ecosystems within the ancient Roman city with special attention to water, food, waste and energy.
Outside of the office Kat enjoys travel, sports, musical performance, and cooking.
