WJA was a sponsor of the 2013 Illinois Governor’s Conference on Affordable Housing. Members of the WJA team attended the event over the two days in Chicago. As well, Heidi moderated a panel on Evidence-Based Design, and Mike contributed to a panel discussing cost-containment strategies.
Of the conference, Michelle said “The conference was a very worthwhile experience, bringing together a great turnout of the primary players in the Illinois affordable housing community. It was very informative to be able to discuss and consider the future of affordable housing in the state from various angles and with input from a diverse group of people that offered their own experiences and expertise. Remarks from Governor Pat Quinn and an enlivening speech from keynote speaker, Senator George Mitchell, were among the many highlights of the conference.”
Elizabeth added “The conference was a wonderful opportunity to meet and reconnect with clients, contractors, and stakeholders. I particularly enjoyed the educational aspect that accompanied the lively debate during Session #1 on Permanent Supportive Housing. The awards given on Tuesday night were truly an inspiration and a testament to the importance of affordable housing in our communities.”
