Elizabeth and Michelle returned to The Kilpatrick Renaissance to volunteer with Renaissance Social Services and the Kilpatrick Garden Club for a Community Garden Beautification Day. They spent the day preparing the garden for senior residents and community members to later plant their desired fruits, veggies, and flowers, as well as helping some of the residents realize their garden plot visions.
Located in Chicago’s Portage Park neighborhood, The Kilpatrick Renaissance is an affordable, independent senior apartment community that welcomed its first residents home in 2015. The project included a small public pocket park along the east side open to residents and neighbors in order to encourage community integration, outdoor activity, and healthy eating.
WJW was proud to be a team member on this project, and Elizabeth and Michelle had a great time gardening and socializing with the seniors on this recent sunny spring day.
